USA Motor Car Insurance

Almost every state in the union requires the owner of a vehicle to have motor insurance so know what is required by law in the state in which you live. When buying motor insurance there are several factors to take into consideration. One of them is how much you can afford or are willing to pay. Make sure you know enough about the subject of motor insurance to insure the policy you choose gives enough coverage in case of an accident. There are different types of coverage and of course the less that the vehicle owner carries the less the monthly or yearly premiums will be. When you purchase insurance you are buying a policy. Your policy is based on the types of different coverage that is chosen. The make, model and age of the car can affect the cost of the insurance policy along with the car owner's driving record. Some coverage is required by law and some is up to the party who purchases the policy.

When property damages to others along with body injury of any kind are covered in the policy this is called liability and this should cover medical expenses and possibility lost wages. It would cover or should cover property damage and damage to autos. Defense and court costs are covered. The state puts a minimum amount on how much liability the car owner must carry but more can and probably should be carried. The part of the motor insurance policy that pays for the damage to the owner's vehicle when there is a collision with either another auto or an object is called collision. If there is loss or damage to the policy owner's automobile that is not caused by an auto accident it is called comprehensive coverage. This would be theft, fire, flooding, wind and hail. If medical coverage is carried it pays for medical expenses caused by the accident. PIP which is personal injury protection is mandatory in some states. This means the medical expenses for driver injury are paid due to an accident no matter whose fault it is. If there is an accident that is caused by the driver of a car that does not carry liability motor insurance, uninsured motorist pays for the policy owner's vehicle. If another driver hits your car and either does not carry liability or does not carry enough underinsured motorist pays for the damage. There is a type of coverage called rental reimbursement; it was designed to pay for a rental car if it is damaged in an auto accident. This coverage sometimes has a daily allowance for the car being rented. Most insurance companies combine the different types of coverage depending on what the policy holder wants to pay for.

The policy holder has got to know the laws in his state so he can abide by at least the amount of motor insurance coverage as required by law and then take it from there. The state law usually does not require that much insurance but more coverage then the law demands is usually worth the money in the extra protection it gives to the policy holder.

Cost of Car Motor Insurance

Several things affect the price of motor insurance. The prices vary according to the company so before you sign anything compare prices and determine what you will receive for the money. One of the main things that will affect the price of the policy is the kind of car that is being driven. Some autos have a higher theft rate then others and so you might pay more for the motor insurance but usually the price of the coverage all depends on the value of the automobile. Something else that will affect the price of the policy is the location you live in. Because of the amount of traffic in the city there are more accidents then in a rural areas and possibility more vandalism. How much you drive affects the cost of the motor insurance along with the distance you drive, such as a daily long drive to work or as a retired person just going out to get groceries and a few other things occasionally. Factors that will affect the cost of the insurance policy also include your age, if you are under twenty five and a man or an unmarried man you will probably end up paying more. However, if you have a really good safe driving record, this can be taken into consideration.

There are a few things that can be done to keep the costs down. The insurance companies know the kind of cars that car thief's like best among other things. The color red is more attractive to a car thief they a gray automobile. Find out about the good list that insurance companies have if you have not yet purchased your car. Some companies offer a discount to good students that have more than one car and a safe driving record. If you carpool to work you might get a discount. Safety factors that your car has like air bags and other things like drivers that are not accident prone are more likely to get a discount. Ask the company you have chosen for your motor insurance about all discounts that are offered.

The insurance deductible is a part of the policy that you are responsible for paying. Deductibles vary by state but are usually in set amounts. If you had a car accident and the damage comes to three thousand dollars with a five hundred dollar deductible, the insurance company will pay for three thousand five hundred dollars and the policy holder is responsible for the remaining five hundred dollars. Your deductibles are important. Think about how much these deductibles are going to cost you. The deductibles will lower your insurance payment; it just depends on how much you can afford to pay the insurance company. Careful consideration of how much coverage you must have, any discounts you may have coming, the amount of money the insurance will pay for in case of an accident, theft, accident or vandalism should all be taken into account when making up a motor insurance policy.
