Post Christmas Ideas and Activities

Christmas is over, you have gorged yourself on Turkey and Mince Pies. So what is there left to do in the Winter months? Below is a list of post Christmas ideas to keep you busy, entertained and maybe even felling that little bit good about yourself
  1. Christmas cards - Firstly you should recycle or reuse your Christmas cards. At the very least you should take them to the recycling centre for pulping and turning into cardboard. Or even better, you can first of all cut out the good parts of the card (Santa Claus, the Angel etc) and use them to make Christmas Present tags for next year.
  2. Christmas Presents - It is inevitable that you will have some presents that you don't really want. Instead of putting them in the cupboard or throwing them away, you could put them to good use. If you are in need of some cash then why not sell them second hand, ebay is a popular choice. Alternatively you could take the items to a charity shop where they could be put to good use by someone else.
  3. Christmas Wrapping Paper - If you opened your presents carefully then you will be able to reuse your paper for next year. If not, don't forget to take the wrapping paper (and the packaging of course) for recycling.
  4. January Sales - Of course you can go shopping in the January sales, if you have any money left over from spending out on Christmas. Don't forget that note only can you pick up good bargains on electrical items and household furniture, you will find that all Christmas decorations and other Christmas items will be on sale very very cheap. You won't need them for another year, but you can save yourself a small fortune by buying them 12 months early.
  5. Join the gym - It's a bit of a cliché, but after all that Christmas excess you may want to repent slightly by doing some exercise, or at least spending some money on a gym membership to somewhere that you never visit.
  6. Write Thank You Letters - Everyone loves to get letters and what better way to keep in touch with people by writing letters of thanks to people who gave you Christmas presents?
  7. Relax! - Christmas is actually a very stressful time of year, with family and friends being around, and so many excited children.... You should take a little bit of time out in the New Year to relax, read that book you got for Christmas, watch the DVD, or have a long bath with the luxury bubble bath. Anything. Just take some time out to chill out and reflect on the festivities.
  8. Sort Out Your Finances - After splashing out for Christmas you may find that your financial situation is far from satisfactory. Take the time to sort out your money concerns, perhaps get a better Credit Card that offers cash rewards, or move some of your savings to a better account. If you find yourself deep in debt after Christmas then obtain some professional advice before the situation gets too bad.
  9. Spring Clean - Once you have cleaned up the Christmas wrapping then the Christmas tree pine needles, why stop there? Give the house a good clean top to bottom, dusting in all the corners and de-cluttering you the place. You may find it just that little bit nicer to live in after you have finished.
