Sign up to the store rewards cards. Dont let them change your shopping habits in anyway, but do use them to get the 0.5-1% cash back that they effectively offer. This way you will save money on your shopping bill.Use a credit card wisely. Get a card that gives 0.5-1% cash back on purchases as well as offering free insurance. Make sure that you pay your bill off every month, otherwise that cashback will be meaningless compared to the huge interest bill you pay.
Move any spare cash from your current account into a high interest rate savings account or an ISA.
Fuel Efficiency Saves Money

Use high electricity usage items after 9pm when the electricity becomes cheaper. It will have you a few pence each time. Typically money guzzlers are dishwashers, washing machines and tumble dryers.
Take a good look at your mobile phone bill. You could probably save a lot of money by thinking about what pricing plan you are on.
- If you send a lot of texts then buying a text bundle will save some money.
- If you dont make many calls then you can probably save money by switching to a pay as you go plan.
- Likewise if your calls make up most of your bill then you should probably switch to a more expensive monthly plan to save money on the total bill.
Use energy saving light bulbs, these may cost more initially, but they use far less electricity than normal bulbs, saving you money in the long run.
Use the kettle to boil water for cooking, instead of heating a pan on the stove. Not only will this be more efficient, but it generally takes less time too!
Buy one get one free deals. These can often save you money, but only if you wanted to buy that item in the first place. Beware being tempted into spending on something that you wouldn't normally buy, and more importantly, that you dont really want!
Pop to the local grocery shop before they close. There will often be a number of drastically reduced items on sale that would have to be thrown away the next day These are often so cheap they are effectively giving them away.
Using a shower instead of a bath uses far less energy and so saves you money
Do not use your dishwasher / tumble dryer /washing machine unnecessarily. They are some of the most energy intensive devices in your home! Make sure you load them up correctly, and do put them on when they are practically empty.
Switch all electrical appliances off at the plug instead of using the 'standby' function. During standby the appliances are still using electricity, and astonishingly, this accounts for 6% of all electricity usage in the home!
If you are not using your fireplace, block up the chimney (just use newspaper or cardboard). A lot of heat energy is lost up the chimney flume. And saving energy saves you money!
Instead of buying it, make your own compost, likewise with fertilizer.
When booking flights you can save money by either booking very early (especially with the cheap airlines), or by booking very very late (with the more traditional airlines)
Make sure you have the correct insurance, especially when on holiday. Accidents and mishaps will happen, and good insurance will ensure that it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.
