Chocolate Brownie Recipe

The Best Chocolate Brownie Recipe - Plus A Healthier Version Too!

These chocolate brownies really are to die for! An American girlfriend gave me the recipe 20 years ago now, and every time I make them people rave over them!

Melt the butter and chocolate together in a double pan.
Whisk the eggs and vanilla essence together.
Mix remaining dry ingredients in a large bowl.

Add egg mixture to the dry ingredients and mix, then add the melted butter and chocolate and mix well.

Bake in a 19cm square or similar pan at a moderate temperature (180 Celsius) for 30 minutes.

And for a Healthier Take on the Best Chocolate Brownies...

I have experimented a bit and managed to add a couple of healthy ingredients into this recipe without my children or husband even realizing they were there!

Use the above recipe but into the dry mixture add ¼ cup wheat germ and ¼ cup of finely ground linseeds!

Wheat germ is rich in vitamin E, magnesium, pantothenic acid, phosphorus, thiamine, and zinc. It is also a source of coenzyme Q10 and PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid).

Linseeds are a good source of fibre and omega 3 fatty acids. They have anti-cancer effects and may help manage menopausal symptoms. They can prevent and relieve constipation as well as soothe digestion.

Good Luck and Enjoy!
