Dog Holidays

Dog friendly holiday ideas

For many pet owners, going on holiday with your dog by your side makes for a perfect vacation.  But if you fancy taking your dog with you, it can be tough finding somewhere to stay or a holiday that is suitable. Here are a few ideas for dog friendly places to stay.

Hotels and B+Bs

It can be tough finding a hotel or B+B that allows dogs. However, look on the internet and you will be surprised by just how many search engine results come up for dog friendly.  More and more UK hotels are realising that by opening their doors to canine visitors, they can fill more rooms and prevent the decline in visitors which is happening due to budget overseas vacations.  Some hotels are tailored towards dogs and you may find that your dog gets treated like royalty.

Camping with a dog

Most campsites are dog friendly, meaning you and your dog are free to go anywhere in the UK.  As long as you don't mind sleeping in a tent with your pooch, camping holidays are a great way to see the country. Plus you have the added bonus of being able to pack up and move on whenever you want.

Caravaning with a dog

There are several large companies that own multiple caravan sites across the UK. All of these have special dog friendly caravans to rent.  They may not be top of the range accomadation but they are clean warm and most importantly they have all the mod cons of most budget hotels.  This means that even if the weather is awful, you and your dogs have a nice warm place to stay.

Canal Boats and dogs

If you are looking for a dog friendly holiday with a difference, try canal boating.  The canal boats provide much the same facilities as a caravan but you get the peace and tranquillity of cruising along the water.  When in a canal boat you are free to moor up whenever you see somewhere nice and there are usually a lot of great dog walks along the canal.
