Pet Microchip

Microchipping Your Pet

Close to half a million pets have been microchipped in the United Kingdom. It helps any animal be returned home should it get lost or be stolen. Most animals can be microchipped and once chipped it is pretty much impossible to remove.

It costs in the range of £15-20 and enters your pet onto the PetLog database. It involves injecting a small, rice grain-sized chip under the skin of your pet. It will not move from this location and can be easily read by scanners held by many vets and animal welfare organisations such as the RSPCA.

Typically Cats and Dogs are microchipped, especially if they are expensive pedigrees. Also Horses are often microchipped.

If you want to get your pet microchipped then you should talk to your local veterinary surgeon or talk to the RSPCA.
