| Institute of Plumbing | Here you can find a listing of 3500 Registered Plumbers, each of whom has had to prove their plumbing skills through either recognized examinations or extensive experience. |
| National Federation of Builders | Here you can find over 3,000 medium sized contractors and smaller builders throughout England and Wales. "Good code of conduct...and high standard of workmanship" |
| National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting | Is not an association but a ".., non profit-making, voluntary regulatory body" and "..employs 50 Area Engineers who make annual visits to Approved Contractors to assess their technical capability, and inspect samples of their electrical work." all work is issued with safety certificate BS 7671 - Requirements for Electrical Installations. |

| Trading Standards / Dti tip-off | The site provides some useful tips for avoiding getting ripped-off not just with respect to tradesman but pretty much everything! You can also officially report misconduct here. |
