There are many buildings and bridges which are made up of concrete. It is used in reinforced form and mostly for the engineering projects. Concrete consists of water, cement which is a mixture of silica, calcium, alumina, iron and gypsum and aggregates which is the basic building material. Concrete is like it can be made so light or it can be made so heavy which is almost twice its density, simply by changing the type of aggregate used. Known for its strength, durability, and design flexibility, it also offers many environmental advantages that support the goal of Buildings and as the world is changing. New technologies and advancement are bringing the improvement in the quality of concrete. The Architects, Contractors, Engineers try to use the concrete with new advancements and technologies to make the building made of concrete can fulfill or satisfy the need of customer. These all benefits are applicable only when we are having a good and experienced builder or contractor because they are the ones who can use them in either good way or bad way. So need of a good builder or contractor is must because the construction methods and the type of technique they uses play an important role in building any house or the bridges. Let’s take an example of United States where so many Low- rise buildings are constructed from concrete and in Britain there are so many bridges which are made of concrete. In addition to this, because of its ease to construction and durability designers use it for making the schools, restaurants, hospitals, industrials buildings and others.
There are three types of methods for construction of a concrete building – precast, tilt-up, and concrete brickwork.
Among the three methods – pre cast method is used in or suitable for those structures in which repetition occurs again and again. It basically include repetition of same type of shapes which also helpful in achieving the greater economy. It also maintains the quality, strength and the appearance. They are commonly used for prison construction because they are economical to construct and are damage resistance.
While Tilt -up are suitable for shopping centers and warehouse because it is easy for the contractors to form the wall panel, without windows speedily and cost-effectively. By using the tilt-up methods, constructers are able to dispense the existing walls in flat arrangement at the construction spot. Tilt –up can also be used for buildings with architectural features and with windows too. There is no need of extraordinary manual labor talents and no extra inner or outer finishing work is required. Though this construction method is used for every storey of the building, but it is also in extensive use in multistory building or house is growing. A major advantage behind this is its heaviness, strength and resistance to horizontal movements. As a result it has become a choice of material for small and big towers.
