Most households suffer from a broken window from time to time and the following costs should help in deciding whether to do it yourself or call in a contractor. Information is also given on the cost of factory-made double glazing units that match the changes to the building regulations for insulation.
Double Glazed Window Pane Replacement
These changes require the insulating properties of double glazing to be subject to low emissivity or Low E. The effect of this type of glass enables it to allow the heat from the sun to pass through the glass but reflects any internally generated (from fires or radiators) back into the room.

If your window seals have gone then you will find that condensation forms between the two panes of the double glazed window. Not only does this make it hard to see through (which is kind of the point of a window!) but also it means that the window is not functioning as a proper double glazed window and you will be losing excessive heat through it. If you see a misted up window pane you should probably replace it.
It is extremely hard to break or crack a double glazed window, but it can happen.
