A new Ideal Logic Max combi boiler costs £2,300 on average, including installation.

While the boiler unit itself costs approximately £1,100, the installation costs can add a further £1,200 to your total. This is because installation fees vary based on the complexity of replacing your existing heating system and individual installers’ rates.

The Ideal Logic Max combi2 boiler is a great all-rounder. It’s available in three output sizes and has an excellent energy efficiency rating, making it a great choice for small and medium homes that want to reduce energy consumption.

Ideal Logic Max Combi2 overview

This highly efficient, compact combi boiler from Ideal Heating offers a great range of features, including a system filter, green technology compatibility and a generous 10-year warranty.

This model is built to last and includes various models to suit different homes, as shown below.

Ideal Logic Max Combi2 Range
Model output sizeHouse sizeBathroomsRadiators
24kWFlats, small homes
1 to 3 bedrooms
1Up to 10
30kWMedium homes
3 to 4 bedrooms

35kWMedium to large homes

2Up to 20

The Ideal Logic Max Combi2 is best suited for small and medium-sized homes, with up to 2 bathrooms. Although the larger model (35kW) can be used in bigger properties, a combi boiler does not store hot water and therefore cannot effectively supply more than 2 bathrooms simultaneously.

If you have more than 2 bathrooms, you might want to consider Ideal’s system boiler range.

Benefits at a glance

For properties with less than 2 bathrooms (1 full bath, and an en-suite, for example), this combi boiler model offers a range of benefits:

Pros
  • Compact design saves space (easily fits into kitchen or airing cupboards)
  • Heating and hot water on demand
  • LPG conversion with a kit
  • No need for a large hot water storage cylinder
  • High energy efficiency of 94% reduces energy bills
  • Lower environmental impact with an ErP rating of A
  • 10-year standard warranty for long-term peace of mind
  • Ideal System Filter (included) improves performance and extends boiler lifespan
  • Quiet operation (46 to 50dB)
  • Compatible with smart thermostats and renewable systems (e.g. solar thermal)
  • Ready for a 20% hydrogen gas blend, making it future-proof

Ideal Logic Max Combi2 technical specifications

The Ideal Logic Max Combi2 is designed to be discreet, efficient and powerful. Its unique features and modern design make it an excellent choice for energy-conscious homeowners. Let’s take a closer look at some of the details that make the Logic Max Combi2 a great option.

Output and efficiency

Each output model (24kW, 30kW, and 35kW) provides instant heating and hot water, with incredible efficiency. The Ideal Logic Max Combi2 is one of the most efficient boilers on the market, offering a 94% return in heat output for every unit of fuel burned (that’s a tiny loss of only 6%).

If you’re concerned about your environmental footprint, this boiler is also ErP rated ‘A’, which signifies low emissions and excellent energy performance. This means less waste and can, in turn, reduce your energy bills.

Dimensions

Each model in the Logic Max Combi2 range is designed to be compact, measuring just 700mm in height, 395mm in width, and 278mm in depth.

This small size doesn’t just make it easier to hide in a discreet space, but it’s also much easier to install. Easier, quicker installations usually cost less, which gives this model another big tick.

Components included

This boiler comes with some great components as standard. Ideal’s system filter comes with the Logic Max and is excellent at protecting your whole heating system from debris and internal blockages. Many boiler models only offer this feature as an add-on, for an additional cost.

Built-in frost protection offers further peace of mind, ensuring your water system won’t freeze if temperatures drop below 5°C. This feature will turn on the heating and gently keep the water warm enough to prevent issues.

To ensure you’re kept warm for the majority of your boiler’s life, Ideal also provides a 10-year parts and labour warranty as standard. This applies provided you register within 30 days of your installation and have your boiler serviced annually by a gas-safe registered engineer.

Prices and installation costs

The Ideal Logic Max Combi2 boiler unit cost is £1,100 on average. The typical installation cost for an Ideal combi boiler is approximately £1,200.

These prices, however, are only indicative, based on our research and actual boiler prices submitted to WhatPrice by homeowners.

To get an accurate price based on your circumstances, you should request quotes from at least 3 Gas Safe registered installers. They can guide you on the best boiler for your home and give you estimates you can compare.

Alternatively, you can use the WhatPrice Boiler Cost Calculator to get a tailored price for your installation.

Warranty and support

Ideal Heating has a strong reputation for offering market-leading warranties, giving homeowners greater peace of mind that their products will last. Ideal’s standard warranties are usually good, but extended options are available for greater security.

For the Logic Max Combi2, Ideal offers a generous 10-year warranty as standard, which includes parts and labour. This cover protects you in case you need a repair or replacement of your boiler, or any of its parts, due to a fault or breakdown.

To ensure the validity of your warranty, you need to ensure that the terms are met. Otherwise, you will only receive a basic 12 months of cover.

The terms for this warranty include installing the boiler alongside the Ideal System Filter (which is included); registering the boiler within 30 days of installation, and having it serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

It is possible to extend the warranty up to 12 years, but you must use an Ideal Heating accredited installer or contact Ideal customer service directly to confirm your eligibility.

For any further support and aftercare, Ideal Heating offers a UK-based team available to contact via phone, email and online chat. They can support you with any queries or warranty concerns.

Ideal also provides online resources, such as manuals and troubleshooting guides, on its website.

Installation information

When you choose a new Ideal combi boiler, it’s good to know what you can expect from the installation process. It can cost up to £1,200 just for the installation fees on a Logic Max Combi2, but the fitting can look different in every home.

When your installer arrives, there are some key steps they will take to get your new boiler set up. For example:

  1. Preparation and checks
Your engineer will check the new boiler location and ensure all pipework and connections are in place. At this point, they will identify if an old system needs to be removed, if you need any upgrades or replacement parts.
  2. Removing the old boiler
Your existing system will need to be disconnected and safely removed. This will include the gas supply, water and flue. If you’re switching boiler types (system or regular to a combi), tanks and cylinders may also be removed and disposed of.
  3. Fitting your new boiler
Assuming your boiler is being fitted in the same location as your old one, your engineer will begin to install the new combi boiler unit. This will include mounting the boiler, connecting water pipes and installing the flue system.

If you move the boiler location, some further preparation is needed first to relocate pipework, gas supply and power sources.
  4. Configuring and controls
The engineer will complete all the electrical connections and set up controls, including thermostats.

Next, they will fill and pressurise the system, checking that radiators and pipework are in good working order (with no leaks in sight!).
  5. Turn on and hand over
Finally, your installer will fire up the system and check everything is safe and working. Then they can show you how to operate everything and complete the necessary records, such as registering the installation to validate your warranty.

In some cases, there may be extra steps to take, particularly if you are swapping your boiler type or getting a significant upgrade to your pipework. All of these elements should be made clear to you by your installer ahead of time, so you can get a good idea of how long everything will take.

Do you need a system flush or filter?

Your installer may advise you that your heating system needs a ‘system flush’ or a ‘filter’. Both of these are optional, but are often recommended to keep your new boiler and central heating performing optimally.

A system flush is usually run before a new boiler is fitted. This helps to remove any old sludge and debris left in your pipes from your previous system. This prevents any blockages and protects the heat exchanger in your new boiler.

A filter further helps extend the life of your heating system by capturing debris before it can enter your boiler, preventing it from circulating and causing any damage. Luckily, the Ideal Logic Max Combi2 comes with a filter included.

Finding a Gas Safe registered engineer

In the UK, it’s a legal requirement that gas boilers are only installed, repaired or maintained by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Using a qualified professional ensures your system is installed to the highest safety standards and complies with regulations.

To find the right Gas Safe registered engineer for your installation, it’s recommended that you compare quotes from several installers. This way, you can verify their credentials and compare costs. You can check any engineer’s status by visiting the official Gas Safe Register website.

Reviews and ratings

Before any big purchase, it’s always a good idea to see how other users rate a product. For boiler brands, it’s even more worthwhile as you can protect your investment and also gain the insight of installers (who can often better indicate the quality of a product).

Ideal as a brand rates very highly with consumers, scoring a 4.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot with over 25,000 reviews. Some of the best feedback includes friendly customer service, speedy repair services and value for money, with many noting the high energy efficiency of their products as a key element.

For the Ideal Logic Max Combi2, customer reviews and ratings are generally very positive. However, as with most things, there are some negative points to take into account.

Positive reviews

For example, positive customer reviews mention the great efficiency levels of this model (94% and its compact size, making it great for kitchen installations. Some customers appreciate the quiet operation levels and value for money warranty length.

Installers also comment that this model is quick and easy to install, but has great features like a clear digital display and built-in frost protection. The include filter enhances the value of the product and makes it a more reliable choice.

Negative reviews

Negative experiences of this model include some breakdowns, which led to loss of heating and hot water (as there is no backup water supply). Some reviewers felt Ideal engineers were slow to respond to repairs under warranty, causing some frustration.

Overall, the Ideal Logic Max Combi2 is widely received as an efficient, reliable boiler. While there are some concerns about response times, this is far fewer in number than the average positive customer and installer response.

It’s worth noting that our comparisons are not exhaustive, and there are often features that can be more important to your needs than others. To get the best advice on choosing the perfect boiler for your home, we recommend consulting a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Final thoughts – Is the Ideal Logic Max Combi2 right for you?

If you’re looking for a compact, efficient and reliable combi boiler, then the Ideal Logic Max Combi2 might be the perfect choice.

This model is super efficient, at 94% meaning for every £1 you spend on energy, you’ll get almost all of it back in heat output. That’s a fantastic money saving if you’re currently running an old, inefficient boiler (anything over 15 years tends to run below 70%!).

Lower fuel usage also means fewer emissions, which can reduce your environmental impact. Plus, this model is compatible with renewable technologies such as solar thermal systems or a hybrid heat pump, which can further reduce your raw energy consumption.

This boiler offers three output sizes, making it great for both flats and medium-sized homes with up to 2 bathrooms. If you’re short on space, the compact dimensions make it easier to fit discreetly inside a cupboard.

The 10-year standard warranty gives you peace of mind that you’re protected for a significant period of time, if anything should go wrong. However, the included Ideal System Filter could see you fly through the next decade without a hitch, as it prolongs your boiler’s lifespan and helps maintain a healthier heating system.

If you prefer something with more advanced features, though, you could consider the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000 combi or the Viessmann Vitodens 100-W. These are more premium options with strong brand reputations for reliability and innovative designs.

For long-term value and reliability, the Ideal Logic Max Combi2 is a strong choice. Ultimately, the best boiler for your home will depend on your unique needs. To get the very best advice, speak to a qualified installer who can help you find the perfect new boiler.

FAQ

The recommended pressure for the Ideal Logic Max Combi2 central heating is between 1.0 and 1.5 bar when the system is cold. During use, it should not exceed 2.5 bar. This can be checked by viewing the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler unit.

The Ideal Logic Max Combi2 is compatible with smart thermostats, including the Ideal Halo Wi-Fi range, as well as other OpenTherm-compatible devices.

To maintain the validity of your warranty, it is recommended that you have your boiler serviced by a Gas Safe registered engineer once a year. This service ensures crucial safety and maintenance checks protect your boiler and your home from any faults.

The Ideal Logic Max Combi2 is ready for a 20% hydrogen gas blend, should the UK’s gas supply transition in the future.

This model comes in three output sizes: 24kW, 30kW, and 35kW. The 24kW model is suitable for smaller homes (up to 10 radiators, 1 bathroom), while the 30kW and 35kW models serve medium to large properties (15 to 20 radiators, 2 bathrooms).
