Baxi Platinum Compact Combi Boiler Cost with Installation

  • Written by Georgina Holmes
  • Last updated 16 July 2026

The Baxi Platinum Compact costs around £1,100 for the 25kW, £1,250 for the 30kW, and £1,450 for the 36kW.
With installation costs of around £1,200, the total cost of the boiler and installation can cost anywhere between £2,300 and £2,650.

The Baxi Platinum Compact is Baxi’s premium compact combi, sitting above the Duo-tec Compact and the 800 Combi 2 in the range. The standard warranty is 7 years, extendable to 10 years parts and labour when the included Adey MagnaClean Micro2 filter is registered at installation and the boiler is serviced annually by a Gas Safe engineer. At 285mm deep and 700mm tall, it fits standard kitchen cupboards, and at 29.2kg it is light enough for two engineers to handle without difficulty.

Baxi Platinum Compact Combi overview

The Platinum Compact combi takes the compact footprint and lightweight build of the Baxi Duo-tec Compact combi and adds the 10-year standard warranty and the included Adey MagnaClean Micro2 filter that the Duo-tec does not carry.

The step up to the Platinum Compact is about the included filter and the route to a 10-year warranty and the 36kW tops out at 14.6 l/min, making it one of the stronger flow rates in this physical class.

Baxi Platinum Compact Combi technical specifications

The Platinum Compact is built on the same engineering platform as the Duo-tec Compact, with two significant additions: the included Adey MagnaClean Micro2 filter and the 10-year warranty.

The stainless steel heat exchanger, brass hydraulics, and modulating burner are shared across both models. The practical differences in day-to-day use are the EasyFill link, the pre-plumbing jig, and the warranty – the Platinum Compact is designed to be installed and maintained easily and covered comprehensively.

For installers, the pre-plumbing jig is a serious time-saver: pipework can be run in advance so the boiler drops onto prepared connections on the day. Combined with the front-access servicing design, which avoids removing the boiler from the wall for annual maintenance, the Platinum Compact keeps both installation and ongoing service costs lower than models requiring more involved access.

Output and efficiency ratings

All three models carry 92% ErP A-rated efficiency, consistent across 25kW, 30kW, and 36kW. As condensing boilers, they recover heat from exhaust gases that older non-condensing boilers expelled, which helps cut the cost of your energy bill.

The boiler is fully modulating, adjusting its output to match demand rather than firing at full capacity and cycling off. Paired with the Baxi uSense 2 via OpenTherm, modulation becomes load and weather compensated, reducing energy use during mild weather and minimising temperature overshoot.

Dimensions

At 700mm tall, 390mm wide, and 285mm deep, the Platinum Compact combi shares its footprint with the Duo-tec Compact and fits within a 290mm deep kitchen cupboard.

The 29.2kg weight is consistent across all three outputs, keeping installation straightforward in tight spaces.

Components included

The Adey MagnaClean Micro2 filter is included in the box and must be fitted and registered at installation to activate the 10-year warranty. It captures iron oxide and metallic debris before they reach the heat exchangers, protecting long-term performance and satisfying the UK Building Regulations requirement for a magnetic filter on any new boiler installation. At a retail value of £100-£150, its inclusion represents a meaningful saving over the Duo-tec Compact, which does not include a filter.

The EasyFill permanent filling link allows homeowners to top up system pressure without calling an engineer, and the external analogue pressure gauge makes it straightforward to check the system without opening any panels. The backlit LED display with twist-knob controls is also easily readable in poorly lit cupboards.

Smart controls are available via the optional Baxi uSense 2, sold separately at around £100-£150, which enables remote scheduling and weather and load compensation via the My Baxi app. The boiler is also OpenTherm compatible and works with Nest, Tado, and Honeywell thermostats.

A wired outdoor weather sensor is available as an optional add-on, mounting on a north-facing external wall and connecting directly to the boiler to provide weather compensation. For installations where an external wall mounting is impractical, the Baxi In Flue Outdoor Sensor (IFOS) fits inside the flue and achieves the same function. Both satisfy the Boiler Plus weather compensation requirement and provide additional SAP benefits for new build projects.

Prices and installation costs

The Baxi Platinum Compact combi costs approximately £1,100 for the 25kW, £1,250 for the 30kW, and £1,450 for the 36kW. With installation costs of around £1,200, the total cost of the boiler and installation can cost anywhere between £2,300 and £2,650.

These prices include a standard horizontal side-wall flue, which routes combustion gases out through an external wall.

Where the boiler position requires a vertical roof exit instead – typically in mid-terrace properties or where an external wall route is not available – a vertical flue adds £300-£500 to the installation cost due to the additional labour and roofing work involved.

Using a mid-range installation figure of approximately £1,200:

Baxi Platinum Compact Combi Costs
Output sizeUnit cost (incl. flue)Total (incl. installation)
25kW£1,200£2,400
30kW£1,350£2,550
36kW£1,450£2,600

These prices are indicative only, based on our research and actual boiler prices submitted to WhatPrice by homeowners. For a broader overview of Baxi pricing across the full range, see our Baxi boiler prices guide

Warranty and support

The Platinum Compact carries a 7-year standard warranty, extendable to 10 years parts and labour when two conditions are met: the included Adey MagnaClean Micro2 filter must be fitted and registered at the same time as the boiler, and the boiler must be serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

No Baxi Assure registered installer is required for either tier. Registration must be completed within 30 days of installation.

Baxi’s national engineer network handles warranty call-outs, with engineers typically carrying common replacement parts in their vans. The brand’s response times during peak winter periods have drawn some criticism in reviews, which is worth factoring into expectations if the property has no backup heating.

💡 WhatPrice Insight: The Platinum cover plan (sold separately through Domestic & General) is distinct from the boiler’s 10-year parts and labour warranty. Several reviews conflate the two. The 10-year warranty is a product guarantee covering parts and labour for manufacturing faults; the Platinum plan is a monthly service contract covering repairs and breakdowns beyond the warranty period. Read both sets of terms before committing to the plan.

Installation information

A standard like-for-like combi swap typically costs around £1,200 and can be completed in a day.

The pre-plumbing jig supplied with the Platinum Compact allows an installer to set pipework in advance, so the boiler itself can be fitted in a single session.

What to expect on installation day

  • Survey first
The installation position, flue route, and condensate pipe path are confirmed. The 285mm depth fits most standard kitchen cupboards, but measure including clearances. If the condensate pipe will run externally, raise the risk of winter freezing with your installer at this stage.
  • Removing the old boiler
The old boiler is drained, disconnected, and removed. Converting from a system or regular boiler with a cylinder or loft tank adds a day to the job.
  • Installing the new boiler
If the pre-plumbing jig was fitted in advance, the boiler drops onto prepared connections. The Adey Micro2 filter is installed as part of the same process – confirm this before the engineer leaves.
  • Control pairing
If you have opted for a Baxi uSense 2 or third-party OpenTherm thermostat, it is paired and tested during commissioning.
  • Handover
Benchmark logbook completed and filter and boiler registered with Baxi to activate the 10-year warranty. Confirm both registrations have been submitted – the 30-day deadline is firm on both.

Do you need a system flush or filter?

The Adey MagnaClean Micro2 filter is included with the Platinum Compact and must be fitted at installation. This satisfies the UK Building Regulations requirement for a magnetic filter and activates the 10-year warranty.

No separate filter purchase is needed, which saves £100-£150 compared to the Duo-tec Compact.

A powerflush of the existing pipework and radiators is separate to the filter requirement and is not legally mandated, but on a system over ten years old it is strongly recommended.

A new boiler connected to pipework carrying years of accumulated iron oxide and sludge will work harder than specified from day one. Budget £350-£800 for a powerflush depending on the number of radiators.

Finding a Gas Safe registered engineer

All gas boiler installations must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

The Platinum Compact’s 10-year warranty does not require a Baxi Assure accredited installer, so any qualified Gas Safe engineer can activate full cover provided the filter is registered correctly.

Reviews and ratings

Baxi holds a 4.6 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot UK, based on over 76,000 reviews.

Platinum Compact-specific feedback is limited. We’ve collated reviews on the Platinum range feedback and wider Baxi engineer experience:

Positive reviews

Installers with decades of Baxi experience single out the Platinum alongside the Baxi 800 Combi 2 as the two models they return to most, citing reliability and Baxi’s parts and back-up support as the deciding factors.

One installer fitting Baxi boilers for thirty years describes the Platinum as a model whose reliability record justifies continued choice over newer alternatives.

Owners who maintain annual servicing report the boiler running without significant fault well into the warranty period, with Baxi honouring warranty call-outs efficiently through its own engineer network.

Engineer quality at warranty visits is a consistent positive theme. Reviews describe prompt diagnosis, parts carried in the van, and first-visit resolution as the norm for in-warranty repairs.

One owner describes a first-year service revealing a dangerous installation fault that the Baxi engineer caught and resolved during a routine visit.

Negative reviews

The most significant product criticism in the review pool involves a Platinum boiler that ran to 11.5 years requiring a £185 repair. The boiler had been serviced annually throughout and a magnetic filter had been fitted. The owner felt the fault – just outside the 10-year warranty – merited more goodwill than Baxi offered. The brand’s own guidance puts correctly maintained boiler lifespan at 10-15 years; 11.5 years is within that range.

A second cluster of criticism relates to the Platinum cover plan rather than the boiler itself. Several owners describe multi-day waits during winter breakdowns, repair visits that failed to identify the fault correctly on first attendance, and confusion about what falls under the boiler’s 10-year warranty versus what is administered by Domestic & General under the cover plan. These are service contract issues rather than product failures, but they are worth understanding before taking out the plan. The boiler warranty and the cover plan are separate products with separate terms.

Final thoughts – is the Baxi Platinum Compact combi right for you?

The Platinum Compact is cheaper compared to the Baxi 800 Combi 2 for the comparable 30kW. You get the same route to a 10-year warranty via the included Adey filter, the same 285mm footprint and 29.2kg weight, but add the pre-plumbing jig for faster installation. The 800 Combi 2 uses stainless steel throughout its heat exchanger setup and carries a 10-year warranty as standard without the filter dependency, which makes it the stronger specification at a slightly higher up-front cost.

Against the Worcester Bosch Greenstar CDi Compact, the Platinum Compact is about £100 cheaper on the 30kW and includes the Adey filter in the box – reaching 10 years requires the filter on both models, but the Platinum Compact’s filter costs nothing extra. The CDi Compact beats it on depth at 280mm vs 285mm and offers LPG across all outputs, which the Platinum Compact does not. For natural gas properties, the Platinum Compact is a compelling alternative at a lower installed cost.

For homeowners prioritising a long, accessible warranty and a filter included in the box without needing to navigate installer tier requirements, the Platinum Compact delivers. The 92% efficiency and the broad three-output range make it appropriate for a wide range of property sizes, and the installer familiarity with Baxi’s platform keeps servicing costs predictable over the warranty period.
