How much does it cost to install outdoor security lighting?
If you’re looking to install mains powered lighting outside to make your home safer it’s best to get the help of a certified electrician, the scope of the work will generally fall within the remit of Part P of the Building Regulations and therefore will need to be notified to Building Control and certified.
It usually a fairly straightforward job, you can get a powerful LED floodlight for around £10 or even better a motion activated light with dusk sensor for upwards of £15, although we would advise you ask the electrician to supply the light, it may cost you a little more but it’s their responsibly if anything goes wrong with it. The installation may take a few hours depending on the complexity of the work and number of units. Taking into account an electricians hourly rate and supply of the light you’ll be looking at around £150-£200 + VAT for the install of one light.
